Happy Mother’s Day to those who didn’t want to be mothers, and those who did.
To those who ended up happy about it, and those who didn’t.
Happy Day to the mothers who were freed by motherhood, and to those who created their freedom after being bound by it.
Happy Day to all the mothers who found themselves, became themselves, and know that their greatest gift to this world… is not what they brought into it, but who they are.
Happy Day to the mothers who didn’t give birth, and to those grappling with post-partum depression.
Happy Day to all the mothers still searching for themselves. Who are still learning to receive love.
Happy Day to all the mothers recovering from a world that taught them to self-sacrifice.
Happy Day to the mothers of dogs, cats, nephews, and nieces, and the mothers who mother each other, whether or not any of them have kids.
Happy Day to the mothers who are fathers, or grandmothers, or stepmothers, or kind teachers that embody Mother love.
Happy Day to all the people who replace our common idea of “mother,” and show us how to love ourselves.
Happy Day to everyone, because no matter who you are, “mother” — and “Mother” — is your origin story.
“Mother” means love — and it’s all of us.
Happy Mother’s Day. 🌹
